5 Feb 2016 Sony has confirmed that the Xperia M4 Aqua will directly be updated to the firmware update on the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3 Compact.

One saddest fact is Sony has not yet provided the stock Marshmallow firmware for Xperia Z3 Compact devices, it seems like they have discontinued the support for future updates for this phone. Anyway Change.org have filed a petition to sony about device update, hope sony will provide updates soon if any.
